Bert and Lauraine Andrews both grew up on Ontario dairy farms and attended the Ontario Agricultural College at the University of Guelph. After several years of traveling across the continent following jobs to Western Canada and the Southern U.S., they dreamed of returning to the farming lifestyle together in Ontario and raising their young family on a working farm.
In 1980, Lauraine and Bert purchased a run-down,100 acre farm just north of Milton with the vision of creating a pick-your-own berry farm in the community. The farm soon became known as Andrews’ Scenic Acres and a destination for families and the public to pick fresh fruit and create memories.
The farm has always been at the cutting edge in commercial berry production and marketing in Ontario, leading the cultivation of highbush blueberries, fall raspberries, black raspberries, amber raspberries, elderberries, black currants, red currants, gooseberries and various northern wine grape varietals in the Greater Toronto Area. The Scotch Block Winery, established on the farm in 1999, has also led the innovation in berry-based fruit wines in Canada, developing over 40 different types of wine over the years and winning more than 75 national awards.
Andrews’ Scenic Acres has grown to become one of the most diversified and well-known agri-tourism farm destinations in Ontario.
